When you’re feeling sick, you shouldn’t have to wait days for an appointment or pay urgent care prices. New York Comprehensive Medical Care offers same-day and walk-in sick visits at our Long Island offices. Our board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners treat a wide range of acute illnesses and urgent medical conditions.
We are not an urgent care center — we are a full-service multi-specialty medical practice. When you come in sick, your visit is handled by your own physician or a qualified provider who can also access your medical history, manage chronic conditions, and follow up on your care.
Conditions We Treat for Sick Visits
Cold, Flu & Respiratory Illness
Cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever, body aches, sinus congestion, and flu-like symptoms. We test for strep, flu, and COVID-19 and provide same-day treatment and prescriptions.
Chest Pain & Palpitations
Chest tightness, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or palpitations. Our cardiologists and internal medicine physicians can perform same-day EKG and cardiac evaluation. If symptoms are severe or sudden, call 911 immediately.
Dizziness & Lightheadedness
Sudden dizziness, vertigo, or lightheadedness can have multiple causes. We evaluate and treat dizziness with same-day testing to rule out cardiac, neurological, or inner ear causes.
High Fever
Fever in adults or children with or without other symptoms. We evaluate the cause, provide treatment, and determine if further testing or antibiotics are needed.
Stomach Pain & GI Symptoms
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramping, or abdominal pain. We evaluate acute GI symptoms and provide same-day care and follow-up.
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
Burning with urination, frequent urination, or pelvic discomfort. We test for UTIs in-office and prescribe antibiotics same-day when appropriate.
Shortness of Breath
Difficulty breathing, wheezing, or shortness of breath. We perform pulmonary function testing (PFTs) and evaluate for asthma, COPD, cardiac, and other causes. Severe shortness of breath requires 911.
Rash & Skin Conditions
New or worsening rash, hives, skin infections, or allergic reactions. We evaluate and treat acute dermatological conditions and prescribe medications as needed.
Injuries & Pain
Musculoskeletal pain, sprains, joint pain, or back pain. Our rheumatology and pain management team provides evaluation and treatment for acute and chronic pain conditions.
Chronic Condition Flare-Up
Worsening symptoms for patients with diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease, or other chronic conditions. Our multi-specialty team handles acute flare-ups and adjusts treatment plans.

Why Come to NYCMC Instead of Urgent Care?
Your Own Doctor Knows You
Unlike urgent care, we have your full medical history. Your provider can treat your acute illness while considering your chronic conditions, current medications, and allergies.
Multi-Specialty Under One Roof
If your sick visit reveals a cardiac, kidney, or rheumatologic concern, you can be seen by the appropriate specialist the same day or at the next available appointment — no referral runaround.
Advanced In-Office Testing
We have diagnostic capabilities that most urgent care centers don’t — EKG, stress tests, ultrasounds, PFTs, Holter monitors, allergy testing, and more. Get answers faster.
Seamless Follow-Up Care
After your sick visit, follow-up care is handled by the same practice. No records to transfer, no repeating your history — just continuity of care.
